2016 Babson Impact Award Recipient
Babson Latin American Club
The Babson Latin American Club won the 2016 Impact Award when it partnered with the graduate programs office to develop a new approach for paying for its annual Latin American Forum.
Problem: In previous years, Latin American club leaders frequently paid out of pocket for expenses associated with its annual forum, which attracted speakers such as former Mexican President, Felipe Calderon. Babson would later reimburse club leaders for these expenses, but many purchases were delayed under the prior system.
Solution: The Latin American Club leaders spoke with Babson's graduate programs office and was able to gain access to a credit card that club leaders could use to purchase items for the 2016 Babson Latin American forum.

With the credit card, the Latin American Club was able to purchase gifts of appreciation for speakers, name tags and the ties shown in the picture above.
How the Babson Impact Award is Selected
The Babson Design Challenge Impact Award is given to the graduate school club that makes the greatest impact on their club and the overall campus community.
Teams are evaluated according to the following criteria:
-
Impact the design solution had on the intended beneficiary
-
Impact the design solution had on the overall school community
-
Sustainability: the extent to which the design solution can be replicated in the coming years
The voting process: After each club team presents their implemented design solution, each club team captain, will complete a scorecard that asks the voters to measure the impact and sustainability of each club's presented design solution.
Team captains are not allowed to vote for their own design. The club team with the highest number of combined points is awarded the Babson Impact Award. A club team must implement their design solution in order to be considered for the Babson Impact Award.
